Prescription Safety Eyewear
Safety glasses are not regular glasses and regular glasses are not a replacement for safety glasses. One major difference in these two products is material. Some safety glasses are made with the same material that is used for jet windshields. The chances of them shattering is slim to none, because they are built and tested to withstand high impact projectiles that regular glass would not. Normal glasses, while sturdy and built for everyday wear, are made of a plastic called acetate that is not heavy duty enough to protect your eyes in work situations. Regular glasses are meant for comfort, not protection.
EN Legislation
The frames and lenses of the tailor-made prescription safety spectacles must feature a permanent EN 166 mark in order to fulfill the standards prescribed by EN legislation both on the frames and the lenses.
Lens Types
There are three lens types used to correct vision: single vision, bifocal and multifocal. When you’re young and your eye muscles are elastic, they easily expand and contract to allow the lens of your eye to change shape to enable you to see objects clearly at various distances. This process is called accommodation. But after your eye muscles do this for about 40 years, they get a little tired and stiff. This is why we have different lens types to assist the eye muscles that are unable to easily expand and contract.
